Ballenberg – Switzerland as it used to be. More than one hundred century-old buildings from all over Switzerland, 250 farmyard animals, traditional, old-time gardens and fields, demonstrations of local crafts and many special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by. Ballenberg is indeed unique. The swiss Open-Air Museum of Vernacular Architecture, Country Life, and Crafts in the Bernese Oberlands is a rich collection of traditional and historic farmhouses from every region of the country. Each house is carefully furnished, and meany feature traditional craftspeople at work. Picnic tables and grills with free fire wood are scattered throughout the park.
